Local Sub-Contractors Interested in £80m PFI Project Can Attend Third Meet the Buyer event

As part of the Blue Light Partnership consortium, Miller Construction and Cofley, is extending a third invitation to subcontractors based in the Somerset and Avon area to an open day to find out more about becoming involved in the £80 million Avon and Somerset Police Accommodation PFI Project, following the success of last month’s event in Bridgwater.

Subcontractors with experience working on medium to large sized projects are invited to attend the Hilton Bristol Hotel, Woodlands Lane, Bradley Stoke, Bristol, BS32 4JF on Wednesday 13th June, for the opportunity to find out more about the projects. The day will commence at 9.30am with registration and light refreshments and will be followed by a presentation from Blue Light Partnership at 10am. Between 11am and 1pm there will be an opportunity for suppliers to speak with representatives from the Blue Light Partnership to get more information about the construction and facilities management project.

Kevin Dickson of Miller Construction, said: “We are pleased to be able to welcome local subcontractors to our third Meet the Buyer event, who have an interest in working with us on the Avon and Somerset PFI Project. Last month’s event in Bridgwater was a huge success and we would like to thank everyone who attended and registered their interest with us.

“The open days are providing us with the opportunity to meet with potential local sub-contractors who will work with us to deliver the four contracts within this project, which is proving to be a worthwhile experience. Attendance at the events has been high as has the calibre of companies we have met to date. We look forward to welcoming sub-contractors from the area that we are still to meet.”

The Avon and Somerset Police Accommodation PFI Project includes Somerset’s Operations Base which will be home to a Custody and Crime Investigation Centre, Specialist Operations and an Enquiry Office; a Custody and Crime Investigation Centre and Police Station in Patchway; a Custody and Crime Investigation Centre in Keynsham and a Tri-force Indoor Firearms Training Centre for Avon and Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire police forces, near Portishead.

The event will enable Blue Light Partnership to identify potential local resources which will in turn deliver economic and sustainable benefits for the local community.
