Hilti presents new SCM 22-A, a 22V cordless circular saw which clean cuts metal without causing sparks

The new Hilti SCM 22-A, a new 22V cordless circular saw which clean cuts metal without causing sparks has completed a health and safety first.

The SCM 22-A, which has been designed for fast, straight, precise cutting, has a blade which chips at the metal as compared to grinding, and collects the debris for a clean working environment.

Weighing less than 4kg and with a maximum cutting depth of 57mm, other safety features include a fast blade brake, an LED lamp that provides increased visibility of the cutting line and a technically superior power to weight ratio for handling and ease of use.

The company has also unveiled the AG 125-A22 cordless angle grinder, a versatile, powerful tool with a brushless SR motor. It features Active Torque Control (ATC) which cuts power to the motor in the event of the disk sticking, plus a one second electronic break to increase worker safety.

Both products will be marketed to the metal cutting market alongside the WSR 22-A cordless recip saw. The unit includes an Active Vibration Reduction (AVR) system incorporating a vertical gearing design and a spring-cushioned contact shoe for maximum working comfort.

All three products utilise Hilti's Lithium-Ion CPC battery technology, which the manufacturer claims will deliver up to 40% more cuts per charge than other comparable tools. It also allows interchangeability of batteries as all products operate off the 22V platform.

The tools also come with Hilti Lifetime Service, which gives the purchaser a complete no-cost period of two years covering the tool, batteries and battery charger.
