Masternaut Prevents Theft Of Local Authorities' Expensive Construction Equipment and Vehicles

Using Masternaut’s web-based real-time technology Councils are saving money on vehicle purchase and leasing as well as running costs and administration, while making better use of existing fleet and human resources and delivering higher levels of service.

Vehicle tracking and mobile resource management solutions from Masternaut are helping Local Authorities reduce costs to meet the government’s 25 per cent budget cuts. Masternaut is also helping to reduce the cost of third party claims against Councils and improve the safety and security of lone workers. The system has Thatcham Category 5 approval and actively prevents theft of expensive equipment and vehicles and makes recovery easy.

"We are very pleased with the results we are getting from the Masternaut system. It has given us visibility of our fleets across the two districts [Hambleton and Richmondshire]. We know precisely where our vehicles are at any time and where they have been thanks to its automatic reporting features. We have full information on driving behaviour such as speed and idling reports so that we can monitor vehicle use and fuel usage," said John Proud, Street Scene Manager, Hambleton & Richmondshire District Councils.

Mark Hurst, Streetscene Officer, Crawley Borough Council, said: "The Masternaut system gives us a live view of our fleet activities. It has improved our productivity through better use of our resources and this has saved money on fuel usage - our annual mileage per vehicle has dropped to an average of 5200 miles from about 6000 miles, consequently this saves the Council around 11 per cent per vehicle."
