Carillion Scale Up The MSite Solution On The Whitechapel Project For Crossrail

The enabling works are well under way at the Carillion Whitechapel site, which will facilitate the new Whitechapel station to be built as part of the crossrail project. The project started in January 2011 with work being carried out a 3 locations, the management of the employees on such a high profile project has been made possible with the installation of Human Recognition Systems MSite workforce management solution.

With the project having such tight deadlines and budgets, Carillion chose MSite to ensure that site access and attendance and incidents were reported against and subsequently managed effectively and efficiently. The initial requirement of the project team and therefore the installation of the MSite solution was double turnstile system aimed at managing up to 400 employees, this was deployed in a 24ft x 10ft security cabin. Carillion where guaranteed that all access and attendance, health and safety and workforce management information was correct and that all employees on site had the correct credentials and accreditation to be on site.

The first installation at the site compound was such a success that Carillion approached the HRS team in March and requested an additional access control point to be added to the existing system. The aim of the additional system was to control access and egress to the build part of the project and ensure that only employees with the correct credentials were allowed to leave the compound to work on the project. HRS also added an extra layer of identification with the installation of a photo id card printing application for all site employees, giving Carillion an extra level of security for all project staff.

“The Whitechapel project is an indication of MSite’s ability to scale even mid project. This was also the first opportunity for HRS to work with Carillion Infrastructure team and highlight the benefits of deploying a solution such as MSite on large high value infrastructure projects” commented Rob Cummerson, Carillion Account Manager
