North Tyneside community facility scheme achieves excellent Considerate Constructors Scheme report

Kier North Tyneside has received an excellent Considerate Constructors Scheme report for Decent Homes work carried out in partnership with North Tyneside Homes, on site at Hedley Place to improve 57 properties. The report highlights the company’s commitment to improving the service it delivers to its customers, neighbours and employees, and puts the site in the top 10% of sites rated across the country.

In each of the eight sections of the Considerate Constructors Scheme Code, it is possible to score between one and five points with three indicating compliance. Hedley Place scored 4.5 in every category including good neighbour, environment, responsibility and safety with its overall score of 36 points out of a possible 40, meaning it has officially been classed as ‘an exceptionally good site’.

Kier North Tyneside carried out Decent Homes improvements to the accommodation in Wallsend including the installation of new doors and windows. In addition to Decent Homes improvements, it provides repairs and maintenance services to around 16,000 properties in the borough, as well as supporting community schemes and council events such as the Mouth of the Tyne festival due to take place in July.

Kier regional director for maintenance, Mike Furze, said: “We are delighted with the results of this latest report. We always strive to provide our customers and neighbours with the best possible service and we take our commitment to the Considerate Constructors Scheme extremely seriously. We were especially proud to have been able to carry out the work with minimal disruption to the residents.”

The Considerate Constructors Scheme was established in 1997 and aims to improve the image of construction. Companies registering their sites with the scheme agree to be considerate, a good neighbour, clean, respectful, safe, environmentally conscious, responsible and accountable.

Considerate Constructors Scheme chief executive, Edward Hardy, said: “This Kier site has achieved an excellent score in all categories, the work carried out has been exemplary and we hope that other organisations will be able to learn from the outstanding examples set by Kier North Tyneside.”

Kier Group has been an Associate Member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme since January 2008 and every eligible Kier site or project is registered under the Scheme.
