S B Engineers Constructors Ltd. Earns National Safety Excellence and Eagle Awards From Associated Builders and Contractors

ABC is proud to congratulate S & B Engineers & Constructors for its success in maintaining the highest level of construction workplace safety..." said Michael D. Bellaman, ABC president and CEO. "Creating a safe environment for workers is an ongoing process that requires vigilance and dedication. It is a pleasure to honor this company's achievement with our National Safety Excellence Award."

The 2011 National Safety Excellence Award winners were selected from ABC member firms that achieved Platinum status in ABC's Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) program. During the selection process, national safety winners were judged on self-evaluation scores, lost workday case rates, total recordable rates and interviews conducted by members of ABC's National Environment, Health & Safety Committee.

In addition, ABC presented S & B the Eagle Award in the mega-projects (more than $200 million) category for outstanding work on the Port Allen Precipitated Alumina/World Scale Catalyst Project in Port Allen, Louisiana.

"ABC congratulates S & B Engineers and Constructors for its exceptional work on the Port Allen Precipitated Alumina/World Scale Catalyst Project and for its success in maintaining the highest level of construction workplace safety," said Michael D. Bellaman.

The Excellence in Construction awards program is the industry's leading competition, developed to honor innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects and safety programs. The award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect, and engineer.

A panel of industry experts served as the competition's judges. This year's panel included representatives from the Design-Build Institute of America, Engineering News-Record, the American Institute of Architects, and the National Association of Women in Construction, members of ABC's National Environment, Health & Safety Committee, and representatives from higher education, among others.
