Lee Group Upgrades Plant Equipment With Hitachi Excavators

Lee Group Ltd has embarked on a major upgrade of its demolition, recycling and earthmoving equipment. The company, which prides itself on fulfilling large scale industrial decommissioning projects, urban regeneration works and specialist demolition contracts, has already started taking delivery of its new plant.

Spearheading the procurement programme is a fleet of 25 Hitachi excavators including five high reach demolition machines that will enable tall and unusual structures to be dismantled from a safe distance. The high reach equipment includes two 70-tonne Zaxis 670s and a custom-made zero tail swing Zaxis 225.

In addition to these, Lee Group Ltd has purchased numerous conventional demolition excavators ranging in size between 13 tonnes and 55 tonnes. A handful of industrial shears, pulverisers, selector grapples and breaker attachments have also been procured to work in conjunction with the new excavators. The company’s recycling capabilities have been expanded with the addition of two new mobile tracked crushers from Sandvik.

Commenting on the upgrade of Lee Group’s equipment, managing director David Lee said, “It is essential that we own, maintain and operate a modern, capable fleet of demolition and recycling equipment. When undertaking large scale, high profile projects, it is important to fulfil our clients’ requirements safely and expeditiously without relying on third party equipment hirers. Lee Group’s ongoing investment in new plant allows us to deliver this time and time again”.

Whilst a majority of Lee Group’s new equipment will be allotted demolition and recycling duties, the company has also purchased 35 Hitachi mini excavators to expand its plant hire business. The new ZX17U and ZX30s have already been put to work operating with a number of major utility and infrastructure providers. “Just like the bulk-haulage sector of our business, our plant hire division has expanded well since the Lee Group’s inception in 2002. The latest fleet of mini and midi sized excavators will allow us to offer smaller equipment with the same assurance of reliability and quality.” says David.
