Wienerberger's Telford Brindle Offers a Tonal Range From Deep Blue Through To Purple And Blue Brown

Wienerberger has launched Telford Brindle, a new Baggeridge Blue architectural facing brick, which now includes subtle colour options in a variety of sizes, and is expected to be popular for architectural schemes, and infrastructure, civic and commercial property projects. Designed for architects and specifiers, the smooth-finished Telford Brindle offers a tonal range from deep blue through to purple and blue / brown, with in-built sustainability credentials.

The distinctive colour is down to the composition of the local clay which is high in iron, giving the brick its characteristic blue finish after firing. The subtle tonal distinctions of the new Telford Brindle are due to kiln temperature and conditions in which this brick is made.

Baggeridge Blue bricks have long been popular with specifiers for architectural projects and to create interesting detailing in residential schemes, providing the ideal contrast to red, orange, yellow and white facing bricks.

The new Telford Brindle can also be used in the construction of larger scale commercial and public buildings, and engineering projects such as bridges and pillars. The hard fired bricks are ideal for structural projects, where high compressive strength is vital, and for providing the below ground or damp proof course layers of buildings, thanks to their high frost resistance and low water absorption characteristics.

Simon Pearson, Wienerberger's director of sales - brick, said: "We have the widest range of blue bricks on the market and I'm delighted to further extend this with the addition of the Telford Brindle. Manufacture of these products is quite a specialist process and it's particularly satisfying to have achieved the responsible sourcing for this product, offering specifiers the chance to use a traditional favourite without compromising sustainability."

Produced at Wienerberger's Kingsbury factory in Staffordshire, recently accredited with the BES 6001 responsible sourcing standard, the Telford Brindle joins the recently certified Baggeridge Blue range, all of which have achieved a BES 6001 'Very Good' rating.
