Control a Hydraulic Excavator With Two Series IV USB Joysticks

This week at IFPE 2011, CH Products has used its HFX Series IV USB Joysticks to demonstrate Simlog’s professional Hydraulic Excavator. Visitors to CH Products' booth could virtually control a hydraulic excavator with the aid of two Series IV USB joysticks.

The HFX Series IV joystick is a heavy-duty, Hall effect controller designed for use in high operating force, hand-operated applications. Available with several high-function handles and in single, dual or triple axis configurations, HFX Series IV joysticks are custom configured to meet the exacting requirements of construction vehicle and PC-based simulation applications.

Available with USB 1.1 HID compliant interface, the HFX Series IV USB joysticks integrate seamlessly with any software application supporting USB joystick inputs via Microsoft DirectX. No device driver or manufacture’s specific SDK is required, the HFX Series IV USB joystick is recognized as a standard HID “game controller” device.

Simlog’s Hydraulic Excavator is a professional PC-based training tool and puts users in the virtual cabin of a modern hydraulic excavator. A total of 12 simulation modules are provided of increasing difficulty, beginning with basic operation of the boom and carrier and ending with trenching and truck loading.

The Hydraulic Excavator simulator features Simlog's unique "dynamic terrain modeling" technology and users are able to switch between "SAE" and "Backhoe-Loader" joystick patterns.
