Fujitsu Cloud Service Deployed by Japan Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Earthquake Recovery Efforts

Tokyo, Apr 22, 2011 - (JCN Newswire) - Fujitsu today announced that its cloud service has been utilized by the Japan Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) to create an information system which provides details on available housing and job openings to disaster evacuees. The information system began operations April 19, 2011.

The information system is one part of the recovery efforts of the Japanese government to support victims of the earthquake which hit eastern Japan in early March. The system was created for local governments to provide assistance to evacuees by offering information on vacant housing including unused school buildings and empty facilities for agriculture, forestry and fishing; employment opportunities; as well as available farmland throughout all of rural Japan - all information which is affiliated with MAFF and prefectural governments.

Fujitsu's Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, CRMate, was provided to MAFF to assist in its administration of the collection and management of information related to housing and job opportunities in the rural regions. CRMate enables the prompt accumulation and administering of data, in line with the preference of the evacuees. Furthermore, CRMate and other such cloud service offerings will be offered free of charge for one year to corporations, organizations, and local governments involved in the recovery efforts. These free cloud services have already been utilized by NPO and related organizations based in the disaster-stricken areas.

Looking to the future, Fujitsu will continue to support the social infrastructure through ICT and contribute to Japan's recovery efforts.
