SGS Industrial Services to provide inspection services for Storm Water Drainage Project İn Chennai, India
SGS Industrial Services in India have announced they have won a tender to provide complex inspection services for storm water drainage project in Chennai, India, issued by the Corporation of Chennai, the oldest municipal institution in India, in July 2010. During the 26-month contract, SGS will provide a wide range of inspection services, including Construction Supervision and Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
In order to assure the quality during the construction works of the storm water drainage project, aimed at flood alleviation in the city, the Corporation of Chennai searched for a reliable third-party company to provide inspection and testing services.
Last year, SGS India won the tender to provide Construction Supervision and Quality Assurance and Quality Control services during the entire construction process.
With Construction Supervision SGS Industrial Services will ensure the successful completion of the storm water drainage construction project in terms of quality, time and cost. Moreover, SGS will carry out independent examination, validation and assessment to gurantee that the investment realization conforms to technical documentation, regulations and valid standards. SGS highly experienced team of experts will help the client to reduce technical risks, prevent construction errors, control budgets and effectively keep the construction project within planned schedule.
In addition, SGS will provide comprehensive Quality Assurance and Quality Control services throughout all phases of the construction project to ensure that the storm water drainage project satisfies customer requirements in a systematic and reliable way and is in compliance with all contractual specifications, national and international standards. The project phases include the construction of storm water drain, retaining wall and RCC walls for fifteen canals as well as purging of silt. SGS will conduct quality checks during the excavation, backfilling, foundation, concreting and structural works on site. A team of eleven SGS experts for each of the areas will verify materials and equipment through checks and inspections in accordance with drawings, quality assurance procedures and a checklist relating to specific types of equipment, operational factors and the vendor’s quality control system. Furthermore, the results of the quality checks will be presented by SGS experts on a weekly basis.
