Redland's Dry Fix Solution For Plain Tiles is Quick to İnstall and Without The Maintenance İssues That Arise With Mortar Systems
Redland has introduced dry fix hips, thus expanding its range of dry fix components for plain tile roofs. The Rapid Hip and Dry Hip systems have now been tested and approved for use with Redland’s Plain Tiles.
This solution was developed in response to a specific request from Newham Council who wanted a mortar-free, dry fix solution for a multi-phased roof replacement project. The Council wanted a dry fix system to capitalise on its15 year maintenance free guarantee. The alternative mortar based systems can be subject to cracking and degradation over time – problems that require costly remedial work. For specifiers with large projects it is usually a simple decision to choose dry fix despite an initial price premium as the long-term cost will be lower.
The dry fix option always proves popular with contractors as well because it is much quicker and requires less skill to install. In this instance, Martin Walsh, contracts manager, Breyer Group Plc was actively involved in the process to design a solution: “Installing a deep bed mortar solution properly takes a long time – time simply not available these days. The dry fix solution is a no-brainer for us: quick to install and without the ongoing maintenance issues that inevitably arise with mortar systems.”
The components that comprise the Rapid Hip and Dry Hip systems are attached using specially designed mechanical fixings, largely eliminating the possibility of error and reducing the need for mortar on site.
