Opt-Emax GripTop Ductile İron Access Covers To Be Trialled On Carriageways By Jersey Telecom
Jersey Telecom has awarded a £100,000 contract to Saint-Gobain PAM UK for the supply of Opt-Emax GripTop™ ductile iron access covers to be trialled on carriageways.
A key factor in the decision to choose Opt-Emax GripTop™ was the product’s ability to withstand the potential premature wear due to Jersey’s unique infrastructure which installs most access covers at the edge of the carriageway resulting in every vehicle hitting the covers.
Launched by Saint-Gobain PAM UK in 2008, the GripTop™ range of durable access covers addresses this issue through its innovative design which features an aggregate surface which is not prone to wear away over time and become smooth and slippery. This reduces the risk of skidding in wet conditions, particularly among road users on two wheels, and meets the requirements of the recently updated Highways Agency reference document HA 104/09.
Among other contributing factors to Jersey Telecom’s choice of cover is the product’s convenient one-man operation and its demonstrable contribution to whole life cost reduction.
