Lakesmere Glasgow Secures Three New Contracts

Lakesmere's Glasgow office of national building envelope specialists has won three major contracts in the West of Scotland. The three contracts, valued over £2.3m, are the new Translational Research Centre for the University of Glasgow and two new Community Sports Hubs at both Johnstone High School and Linwood Sports Centre

Work will begin on site at the University of Glasgow in October 2011, with the Lakesmere team designing and installing an attractive building envelope package that includes anodised aluminium patterned rainscreen, PPC aluminium rainscreen and Kalzip. Constructed as part the University of Glasgow’s next phase of pioneering research into the fight against cancer, the new Translational Research Centre has been designed by RMJM Architects and Lakesmere will be working alongside main contractor Mansell.

Lakesmere will also be completing various roofing and cladding works for main contractor BAM Construction as part of the creation of Johnstone’s High School’s new Community Sports Hub. The team will be on site in December 2011, installing a package of anodised aluminium extruded mesh and composite cladding alongside Sarnafil and Kalzip roofing. The new community sports complex, which has been designed by architects Anderson Bell + Christie, will boast a 25m four lane swimming pool, dance studio, fitness gym and a full size synthetic pitch in addition to the existing four court sports hall.

A further appointment by BAM Construction sees Lakesmere working on the development of a new Community Sports Hub at Linwood Sports Centre, which like the similar project in Johnstone, forms part of Renfrewshire Council’s ambitious ‘Building Better Communities’ regeneration programme. Lakesmere will design, supply and install some 4500sqm of rainscreen to the new Hub that is located within the grounds of the existing sports centre and with initial works already underway, installation of the specialist cladding is expected to commence in October 2011.
