Kier Secures Four New Contracts To Provide Repairs and Maintenance Across The UK

Kier has announced it has secured four new contracts to provide repairs and maintenance across Gosport, Ealing, Richmondshire and North Bransholme. The contracts, which strengthen Kier’s presence across the country, are worth a combined annual value of over £25m.

The contract with Ealing Council, which has an annual value of £4m and will run for five years, began on 1 July and provides handyperson services for communal repairs, as well as voids work and responsive repairs for around 9,000 residential homes in the London Borough of Ealing.

In the north, Richmondshire District Council and Kier have entered into a contract to procure planned refurbishment works to council owned homes across the district, worth £6.35m. The new four-year contract, due to begin in September, will see Kier carry out refurbishments including external doors and windows, kitchens and bathrooms, roofing, central heating and rewires. The contract marks Kier’s first venture in the region, into which it hopes to expand over the coming years.

The four-year North Bransholme contract has an annual value of £15m and sees Kier working with the Riverside Group to provide Decent Homes works and asset management services in North Bransholme, Hull.

Kier is also working with Gosport Borough Council in a ten-year agreement providing mechanical and engineering repairs and gas services for tenants, in addition to responsive repairs and maintenance to around 5,000 homes across the borough. The contract, worth £5.6m annually, has the potential to extend by five years.

Kier managing director for maintenance, Peter Brynes, said: “At Kier we understand our commitment to the areas in which we operate extends beyond simply providing an exemplary service and must include adding value to the community. We are committed to making a tangible contribution to the future economic success of the areas we work in and the fact we are the only company of our kind to have a dedicated national corporate responsibility team underlines this.

“There has been a lot of uncertainty and disruption in the building maintenance sector over the last 12 months and the fact that Kier is able to deliver a reliable, high volume service built on solid foundations is proving an attractive proposition to many clients. Our aim is always to work closely with tenants and residents on issues that are important to their well-being and quality of life and we enjoy strong approval ratings among them.”
