Caterpillar's Command For Dozing Enables Remote,Line-of-sight Operation Using A Portable Console
An integrated remote control system for Cat® D10T and D11T Track-Type Tractors, Caterpillar's Command for dozing enables remote, line-of-sight operation using a portable console, which allows the equipment operator to stay out of hazardous areas, such as under highwalls, near slides or pushing to underground feeders in stockpiles. The system enables mining and bulk materials handling operations to work safely, productively and economically in a broad range of applications.
Command for dozing differs from aftermarket add-on systems, because it is fully integrated with the Caterpillar designed components, systems and electronic control modules (ECM) used on the D10T and D11T. Integration reduces complexity and cost and enables the system to deliver higher performance, better reliability, longer life and enhanced safety. The system also allows using Autocarry and Auto Blade Assist for high productivity.
Command for Dozing is the first globally available commercial product in the Command capability set of Cat MineStar™ System, the comprehensive and fully integrated mine and mobile equipment management system from Caterpillar. Command leverages many of the features found in the other Cat MineStar System capability sets. This commonality enables seamless integration and easier scalability.
Command for dozing has the ability to use avoidance zones set up in Terrain, another Cat MineStar System capability set. A tractor equipped with Terrain uses GNSS to create three-dimensional electronic fences around fixed objects and hazardous work zones. The boundaries are then communicated to Command for dozing to warn the operator and, if necessary, to stop the machine before it enters an avoidance zone.
Safety, efficiency and portability
Command for dozing features a console from which the operator can perform virtually all machine functions—including engine startup, acceleration, deceleration and shutdown; shifting, steering, directional control and braking; blade and ripper control; and auxiliary functions such as lights and horn. Critical information normally displayed in the cab via gauges and other displays is replicated on the operator console.
The operator console weighs approximately 8.5 lbs (3.85 kg) and is fitted with a shoulder harness for convenience and portability. It is available as a 900 MHz unit with an operating range of up to 2,625 ft (800 m) and as a 2.4 GHz unit with an operating range of up to 1,600 feet (500 m) depending on environmental conditions. The system meets ISO 15817 and AS/NZS 4240 standards.
