FE Peacock Builds New Affordable Homes İn Corby
146 properties have been demolished in Arran Way on the Lodge Park estate in Corby to make way for a new development. It is part of a wider Corby Council regeneration scheme to revitalise older housing areas as part of a borough-wide strategy to double the town’s population by 2030. This development will contribute towards creating a mix of imaginative modern housing that has long been part of the regeneration plans for Corby.
FE Peacock has completed 30 social homes to a tight construction schedule for Corby Borough Council. The homes located in Arran Wayand include four, three and two-bedroom houses as well as two-bedroom bungalows. All properties will be available at affordable rent from the council.
The properties are the first council homes to be built in Corby for around three decades and were constructed after Corby Borough Council received a grant of over £1 million from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to fund the development. The grant was matched pound for pound by the council.
The properties were constructed using timber frames manufactured and built by Kestrel Timber Frame, also part of the Larkfleet Group. Timber frame construction – using wood sourced from sustainable forests – allows properties to be built quickly to high standards. All properties on the development meet the government’s Code for Sustainable Homes level 3 – some 25 per cent above the current minimum requirement set out in building regulations.
Corby Borough Council’s Cllr Bob Eyles, said: “FE Peacock’s work on this development has provided much needed new affordable homes in the area and further highlights the success of the borough’s regeneration programme. The Arran Way development had been in our regeneration plans for some time so we are delighted to see the completed development.”
Karl Hick, managing director of FE Peacock, commented: “These affordable properties are of particularly high build quality and exceed environmental standards. The development looks fantastic and will contribute to the regeneration of the town that is transforming it for the future. FE Peacock was delighted to work with Corby Borough Council on this development and was pleased to complete the project on time.”
