ISG To Extend and Modernize Facilities Across Five Primary Schools İn The North West

ISG was appointed in July of 2010 to the North West Construction Hub Framework, which sees the company working across the entire North West region, encompassing projects within Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria. ISG has now secured a further five projects valued at over £3 million for the North West Construction Hub framework. These latest wins focus on extending and modernising facilities across existing primary schools and takes the total value of projects won this year to around £10 million.

All five projects comprise the demolition of temporary classroom accommodation and the construction of permanent structures to provide modern, purpose-built learning environments. Work is now underway at Mickle Trafford Village School and Ashton Hayes Primary School in Chester, Comberbach Primary School and Hartford Primary School in Northwich and Wimboldsley Community Primary School.

Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council, which is funding the improvements, has an ongoing commitment to provide pupils and staff with high quality and sustainable education facilities and each of the new schemes boasts significant green credentials. The majority of the classrooms feature a sloping design with mechanically operated high level windows providing a passive ventilation system. Additionally, Mickle Trafford Village School and Ashton Hayes Primary School incorporate roof mounted photo voltaic cells to generate emission free electricity.

ISG has carefully phased the projects to ensure major structural elements are carried out during the summer holiday period, however work will continue during term time and this is being carefully managed through daily staff briefings. Health & safety sessions have been held with all pupils to warn of the dangers posed by construction sites and at Mickle Trafford Village School the project team is supporting the pupil’s eco-committee through practical demonstrations of green technology and regular site updates.
