Kubota machinery helps keep Britain moving during the big freeze

Last month, Kubota machinery has been coming to the rescue right around the UK. As the weather has worsened, Kubota tractors of all sizes have been called into service to help keep Britain moving during the big freeze - from clearing snow outside of Lincoln Cathedral to helping to find a secret Santa.

Fortuitously, the day before the snow hit Colne in Lancashire in December, retailer Boundary Mills took delivery of a Kubota M9540 agricultural tractor from Gibsons Garden Machinery specifically to help deal with winter weather. Now fitted with a snow blade and salt spreader, it has been used to help keep the car park open for customers.

Meanwhile in Lincoln, heavy snowfall caused widespread disruption across the region, forcing both schools and roads to close as well as the cancellation of the famous Christmas Market. As a result, Chandlers (Farm Equipment) Ltd has been hiring out equipment, including a Kubota B3030 compact tractor, to help clear the city’s streets including those around the Cathedral.

More unusually though, is the news that a Kubota RTV900 all-terrain utility vehicle has been used by one local authority to try and track down the big man himself – Santa Claus. ITV Wales interviewed two rangers riding in an RTV900 about the 'Woodland Santa', who for the second year, has been leaving Christmas presents anonymously in the Millennium Coastal Park.

Dave Blackwood, sales and marketing manager for Kubota Tractor and Groundcare, said that he isn’t surprised that Kubota machines have been coming into their own in the harsh winter weather. "Our tractors have been designed to provide optimum performance in even the toughest of conditions and you can’t really get much tougher than several feet of snow.

"They are extremely powerful for their size and the slimline design of many of the compact tractors means that they are ideal for clearing city streets that are often lined with cars. And, as for finding Santa, I’m not sure that they’ll succeed, but I can’t think of a better machine for the job than the RTV900!"
