Green And Eco Friendly Jobs Drive New Green Education

Going green is not just reusing, recycling and reducing anymore, it has reached a full blown lifestyle choice including educational courses. In his all out effort to lead the nation to be energy efficient and increase employment rate, Pres. Barack. Obama invested more than $80 billion on renewable resources and constructing two solar panel plants. In so doing, some educational institution created environmental curriculum or course to compensate the growing demands for green jobs.

With the growing environmental issues and increase in demand of resources, different colleges and universities offer environmental and energy related courses to prepare students and equipped them with necessary skills to leverage them with in-demand green jobs. To give you an idea on educational institutions with environmental commitment and offering green education, Princeton Review and the U.S. Green Building Council released a Guide to Green College to see the nation’s most eco-friendly campus.

Here are some of the green campuses providing environmental initiatives:

Lawrence University, Appleton-offers degree in environmental studies focusing on either environment policy or science; students with geology courses may tackle local environmental issues related to protection of groundwater and surface water. Marquette University, Milwaukee-Environmental engineering students may specialize in water resource, supply, disposal and wastewater treatment. It also offers courses with environmental impacts of transportation, sustainable engineering and models of sustainability.

Milwaukee School of Engineering-A degree in architectural engineering and construction management can have environmental design specialization. It also has environmental engineering degree program. Northland College-Has pioneered environmental liberal arts studies in 1971.Offers spring course in installation of photovoltaic including solar panels. University of Wisconsin, Madison-offers degree in environmental studies, transportation management and water resources management degree. Its engineering college includes a civil and environmental engineering department. University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee- offers education program in water technology and sustainable code integration. It has applied science programs in wind energy and solar energy.
