New offices of access cover manufacturer Structural Science Composites opened by HRH The Duke of York
Structural Science Composites Limited, (SSC), experts of composite access/manhole covers, have come a long way since 2005, when – drawing on over 20 years knowledge in composite cover manufacture - it opened its Barrow-in-Furness office and factory. With an order book today of £200k comprising £60k secured in the UK and £140k in Europe, the company has received Royal endorsement of its impressive growth. This was marked by the visit of The Duke of York to officially open its new offices - situated alongside its manufacturing facility - on 30th May.
His Royal Highness works to support entrepreneurs and SMEs who are looking to grow their businesses in the UK or to reach international markets. SSC was chosen for the Royal Visit as a result of its name being put forward by a local enterprise organisation as an excellent example of business success, despite tough economic times.
Andrew Burton, General Manager of SSC comments: “We are very proud of our achievements over the past seven years and feel honoured to receive this Royal stamp of approval.
“The office move allows us to centralise our rapidly growing business, improve factory facilities and better manage the increased production of the factory. It also enables us to undertake a planned recruitment programme to meet increasing business. Currently, SSC has vacancies for engineers and warehouse operatives and we are planning to recruit additional production staff, in line with growing demands, in the near future.”
According to SSC - who entered a strategic partnership with Instarmac Group plc last year for distribution of SSC covers under the Ultracrete brand - business prospects are encouraging. Specifically, more and more local authorities and utilities are making the move towards replacing metal covers with SSC’s more ‘fit-for-purpose’ and environmentally friendly composite alternative that provides a structurally superior modern solution in the access cover market. Structural Science Composites’ access covers, which have been proven to outperform their traditional rivals in every aspect including counteracting the growing issue of metal theft, are pointing the way forward for the industry.
