Further education contract wins for Lakesmere Glasgow
The Glasgow office of national building envelope specialist Lakesmere has secured over £5m of new work in the education sector after winning three prestigious new contracts.
The specialist contractor is set to build on its relationship with main contractor Pochin’s PLC by completing an extensive cladding package for Edinburgh’s Napier University’s new Fountainbridge student residence scheme. Working with Alan Murray Architects, Lakesmere will be responsible for the design and installation of both aluminium plank and cassette cladding in addition to Alucobond ACM cladding. Lakesmere’s appointment to work on the new Fountainbridge development, which includes some 778 en-suite student residences, follows the company’s earlier successful delivery of a complex roofing and cladding package for Napier University’s new Faculty of Health, Life and Social Sciences buildings.
Lakesmere has also been appointed to complete a new roofing contract, comprising both Kalzip aluminium and Icopal Single-Ply roofing, for the new Port Glasgow Shared Campus project. The ambitious new scheme by Inverclyde District Council includes the creation of several new buildings for the new Port Glasgow High and St. Stephen’s High Schools as well as a new additional support needs school. The new campus will provide various education and leisure facilities to replace Glenburn and Lilybank Schools and has been designed by architects Archial. Lakesmere will be working alongside main contractor Graham Construction.
Lakesmere’s third new contract win will see the team design and install a Kalzip aluminium roofing package for Midlothian Council’s new Lasswade Community Campus. Appointed by main contractor BAM Construction (Edinburgh), Lakesmere will undertake work on the leisure centre that forms part of the campus, which has been designed by architect Copper Cromar and also includes a new high school and community hub.
